Iron Lady
Anthology 2013 Entries, English Poetry |
She collects clothes at a hundren houses,
all alone ,all day long, she stands and presses,
with heat, dust and scorching sun for company.
At day end, its time for her balancing act for delivery ,
with bundles carried ,with support from head and neck, elegantly,
is that why we call out for her –“iron lady”.
Kanchana,
very witty tale. Well rhymed.

A Beautiful poem. Liked very much.
True to life as most would have seen this “Iron Lady”. Brilliant narration.
Only I feel, it could somehow read,
” In a shed, all day long, she stands and presses
with heat, dust and scorching sun for company”
for she is generally not alone but has her husband as her master and mate and they do the ironing in a shed.
Thanx sir,My iron lady’s husband deserted her a few months back (and so she’s alone braving life with her kids),which prompted me to write about her.
A commendable lovely poem.
I admire this iron lady.
