Mustard’s Move.
English Poetry |
Mustard’s Move.
Mustards sprung ,lept, popped
And staged
a hip hop;
Green olive oil fumed
And caused
a splutter;
Colored veggies matted
And dropped
The screen;

Kanchana,
I don’t get it. Can you explain?

@Gion Gion, Its an exaggerated imagination of the seasoning done in Indian cuisine.Mustards get restless as the oil gets hotter and splutter .only then the other ingredients are added and the actual cooking starts.Mustard seeds got lots of medicinal value.The plant also looks very attractive in full bloom.Typically, a south Indian dish gets prepared after mustard seeds splutter,even the ones that are not cooked and eaten raw have mustard seasoning(like chutney).am sure you would have heard of ‘chutney’.
@kanchana,
I see. Something similar in Italian cooking with olive oil, onions, garlic.
@Gion Gion
In the poem the picture of what happens during the process of tempering in Indian style cooking is described poetically & elegantly.
