Oh Mom
Anthology 2013 Entries, Crowned Poem, English Poetry |
( 10th May, we all celebrated Mother’s day, we all have seen our mother.
Yet a few unfortunate, never ever knew a mother. This is a poetry written
for such an unfotrtunate one who never met his/her mother)
Did you ever think of me
Did I even cross your mind
I’ve never seen or known a mother
Yet I too belong to mankind
Why she left me in a dustbin
Don’t know what was my crime
The umbilical cord she ripped
My tears mixing with the grime
Mother’s love I yearned
Her cozy lap I did miss
That gentle touch of love
The warmth of her gentle kiss
No, I don’t seek pity
My only wish, I too could
Celebrate like the rest of you
Wish my broken heart understood
Do spare a thought for us
For us, the less fortunate
Value everything God’s given
Everything that’s in your fate.
“No, I don’t seek pity
My only wish, I too could
Celebrate like the rest of you
Wish my broken heart understood”
really touching lines….
a beautiful poem with a really noble thought… thanks for giving us an extra reason to cherish and treasure more wat we have been blessed with….
@vartika,
Felt so bad 4 the unfortunate few who dont even know who their mother was..ever.
2 reasons – my nephew from canada had just adopted a child & the boy, from Gujarat, was with us for a day, just felt his emotions & how he just adapted 2 the new family, just because the childs mind is clean.
– regularly help out at an orphanage, called Adhar Kendra, near our house…can feel the pain in a child who has none of his own, no mother 2 look up 2 🙁
Vartika; Thank you for sharing.
@medhini,
actually Mehdini, this adoption & orphanage comment is written by me, not Vartika. T’was in response 2 her comment
viju
@viju; I am sorry, Viju, as I just overlooked
the name.
@medhini,
NP, just clarified 🙂
A nice poem, filled with emotions.
This poem is an earnest plea to all,
to feel for the unfortunate, abandoned
children. A very sorry state of affairs.
@medhini,
Thx. Medhini.
a little thought @ the less fortunate would make us all help them, v the previlaged lot can do a lot.
Very sensible, very sensitive,
intense emotional impact,
the poem bringing out,
some very touching facts,
For all to feel and really act….
Viju, thanks for sharing this beautiful, meaningful poem
@Vishvnand,
thx. Sir, am happy the poem touched you, T’was meant 2.

very touching
oh MOM
thou art in the center of my heart
i love thee
o!mom
@rajdeep,
Yes Rajdeep,,
v r lucky 2 have recieved all the love & more from our mom.
this poor kid does not even know who his/her mom is 🙁
No, what we have, we don’t cherish, and this should make us treasure the loves around most of us. Very sensitively presented. And I wish there were more of us added in such noble causes. All the best to those children!! And 3 cheers to the ones coming forward!!!
@parminder,
Thx. Parmindar,
hope my poem/poems r not 2 depressing
somehow, had 2 write this.
Nice………………a Mother’s poem with a difference………………hmmmmmmm………..message is good…………no doubt…………
Poetically which really matters………………the poem uses simple language and simplicity all over……………but I thought its too simple and elementary………..bu efforts were seen to present it nicely…………
hmmmmmmmmmmmmm Stars = 4 (-1 because of too much of simplicity and use of words very elementary)
But overall…………..its a nice poem with a nice message………………..
🙂
@ULHAS,
Thx. Ulhas,
probably, the language had 2 b simple, the message simpler,
u see, it comes from the mind of a kid who just craves 4 d simple love of a mother, when all others @ him/her celebrate Mothers day.
The thought that went behind this poem, was to make it as simple, elementary if u please……imagine it from a little kids angle dear.
@viju,
hmmmmmmmmmm……………………….. 🙂
@ULHAS,
so I assume this is acceptable boss,
just joking Ulhas 🙂
@viju,
acceptable…………… 🙂 sir………………acceptable
@ULHAS,
waaaaaah.. what a relief 🙂 🙂 🙂 🙂
Very sensitive thoughts and a very emotional touch there…touches the heart really.
@Vandana Singh Mishra,
oh !! T’was emotional when i wrote it. glad it conveyed the emotions of that little child.
thx.
Its truly a great thing… to be able to feel other peoples pain and understand their feelings. This, when people can barely even spare a thought for others these days..
@Bee,
want hapiness – try & think & do 4 others 🙂
just joking, but it does help seriously 🙂
Painful, sad and beautiful…
very beautifully expressed…
@krishna,
liked ur comment , really, painful, sad & beautiful 🙂
thx. krishna.
i’ll quote d same words as vishvnand….. n praises fr his way of expression as well….
“Very sensible, very sensitive,
intense emotional impact,
the poem bringing out,
some very touching facts,
For all to feel and really act….
Viju, thanks for sharing this beautiful, meaningful poem……..”
n here i guess d messege is v.clear …. dat we ought to focusmore on d action part……
n a v.good answer given by u viju on ulhas’ comment…. lol…..
i guess its more dificult to write a simple poem wid such a profound message….. it reminded me of alchemist….. so simple but so profound …..lol
keep d gud work going…..
Thx. Sneha :))
its comments like these, Vishwanand sirs, Ulhas’s n urs that motivate n also stimulate d little brain i have in2 replying wid a bit of wit n learning at the same time.
anything, written n someone feels like reading it again…that an achievement
wud appreciate ur comments on other poems 2 🙂
wow, this poem is very real! sometimes all of us who have mothers, take her for granted and do not see the little things she does to keep us happy ): your poem made me appreciate about my mom more :D.
and very nice flow of rhymes & words were appropriately chosen. liked it!
5 stars
@Dipika Syngai,
Thx. dipika,
yes it is indeed sad that most of us, well almost all of us never count our blessings & generally just crib @ d small irritants of life. Yes, 2 a child who does not know or has never seen his mothers love, we, d fortunate ones cannot imagine , yet take our relationship 4 granted.
This was an attempt 2 just highlight a mother, the next best thing 2 God, tho” who has seen God??
