A prompt action, at a tender age
English Poetry |
A team of five boys,
approximately of ten years,
old, walked towards their school.
Seeing a kind of unknown berries—
ripe, reddish bunches,
swaying in wind, on creepers;
They moved slowly to pluck,
the berries, on the way,
forgetting the hands of the clock.
Among them, the tallest boy,
was chosen to pluck,
the berries, while the others, watched on, shyly.
Hurriedly, he plucked,
and threw the bunches,
at them, as red ants covered his hand.
All the four, ate the berries,
so, felt a sort of giddiness,
when the tallest boy reached the spot.
He took them, in a rickshaw,
to the hospital and did show,
the berries to the doctor.
On timely treatment, they got
discharged, after two hours,
went back their homes, with fright.
The real tallest boy, got a pat,
on his back, from their parents;
also, for prompt action, awarded him, the teachers.
