Scene here today
Anthology 2013 Entries, Crowned Poem, English Poetry |
Dark heavy clouds rush to rain
Somewhere ;all heaviness to drain
White dots on this dim sky
Pretty butterflies that fly
Huge trees that sway
To each other ; unknown message they convey.
Dragonflies up in large groups
With Scanty sunshine to sparkle the wings
Gaping helpless at sky to green
Faded grass waits for sheen
Hurried lone women with a pot;
Far scene,Splashing water from top
The man cements patches on his roof
Swiftly before the next pour ; to leak proof
On this grass; a little white lamb leaps
Other side a rainbows peeps
From morn; this is the scene
Great today the weather;here.
Once again Kanchana simply beautiful
@Ray, thankyou sir
nice imagery
well written
@Parespeare, thankyou
Kanchana,
good description of waiting on the rain.
My eye was caught by these lines (wish I had thought of this)
Huge trees that sway
To each other ; unknown message they convey.”
I like these sort of poems because always remind me of a misinterpreted Bible quote from my childhood – “The rain falls on the wicked man as on the righteous” – misinterpreted to read as misfortune does not discriminate rather than fortune does not discriminate. Rain in a dry land being s God send,
Fergus
Kanchana,
could you reduce the gaps between the stanzas as this will make it easier to read,
Fergus
@Gion Gion, The spacing editions are done.thankyou and too glad that it reminds you of a quote from the Bible.
Evocative imagery-
