Grieving
English Poetry |
Something died last night
I can still smell it
An overwhelming stench of the carcass
The devils dancing on it,revelling on it
The vultures feasting on it
I watch….a mere,mute spectator
With tears forgotten to dry
Grieving for the loss
The beauty that was
Can words also cause death?
Like a sword, digging into the flesh
Slowly and surely.
Blood spurting out
Drenching us
Decapitating the neck
There !
A headless relationship
Speechless for now
Renu,
an outstanding piece. The imagery is so strong, brutal.
One feels that one has turned from one butchery in the first to another in the second.
” A headless relationship ” there seems a reason for this image rather than the cutting out of a heart. Something more substantial….

@Gion Gion, Thanks Gion
Words like arrows once spoken can hurt and yes it can never be brought back. It can wound and pierce your heart and ironically it’s again the words which when spoken in the manner it’s supposed to be can soothe and heal like a balm smeared by hands that care.
There’s poison in the words,
there’s anger in the words.
And because anger sometimes
some people drink poison….
There’s a lot of unspoken hurt and hatred in your composition and at the same time a wise understanding of the derived wisdom from it…
Loved it….
“and because of anger”- correction…
“and because of anger”-correction…
