                              First of January,

                              two thousand ten, heralded

                              the dawn of second decade

                              of twenty first century;

                              As we know, Janus,

                              the Greek goddess,

                              has begotten January.

                                          ***

                             When the new born sun

                             spread bright reddish orange

                             coloured wings of rays, shone

                             and crept into my room, I woke up with eyes open.

                                             ***

                             I mused, a new dawn,

                             filling hopes, dreams and aspirations

                             in several hearts as well as mine

                             has arrived enabling us to strive hard with steady resolutions,

                             for a bright colourful future

                             of the Nation and World, sure;

                             Hurriedly, brushed my teeth and sipped tea.

                                                       ***

                             Let’s hope, this new decade may present

                             two successive five year plans

                             to chalk out programmes,

                             projects and decisions ending in fulfillment.
