English Poetry

I stand here alone so high

On a night as dark as black

The stars shine above

And let out a twinkling call

They seem so near

And tantalizingly close

Within my reach

Although miles beyond

I instinctively try

To reach the stars

But I feel a rope

Has tied my hands

And there’s no one

But myself to blame

For I have made the rope

And I have tied the knot

    Pramod,
“For I have made the rope
And I have tied the knot” – made the rope as well as tied the knot – very expressive of a sense of regret, missed chances.
