Desires ….!

Why is there so much difference?
When we say “We wish” or we say “We desire”
It appears wish arises out of feelings quite nobler.
And desire arises out of some greed at the center.
Both our wishing & desiring are always either good or bad,
Entirely depends on what inner motivation triggered that
Earlier it was mostly the real need that triggered the desires,
Now we see always greed & avarice triggering most desires
Such acute desires are creating crimes, scams, calamities & unhappiness everywhere,
High time we as humans look within before becoming a prey to such desires,
For only when most practice this, give importance to need and not greed,
can we win back our world of peace and happiness we always pray for & need …..

English language has such fine nuances. Each word has subtle deeper meaning. One can interpret it in so many ways as per one’s attitude. .
If wishes were horses.. as the .saying goes.
Desire can be for nobler ideals too, not merely for practical gains.
But distinction bewteen need and greed is defined by you in a clear -cut manner.Thanks.

Thanks so very much for your comment, liked very much.
My submission is that desires motivated by real needs are always desirable to have, whereas desires which are motivated by greed and avarice are the cause of all the massive problems in our country & the world.
In spite of all this; people/families who live with their desires moderated & motivated by real need lead happier and contented lives.

  2. To wish is to want , but to desire is to hope, and you have conveyed this message .

  3. To wish is to want; to desire is to hope; you have conveyed this well in your poem

Thanks very much for your comment. I am feeling very honorably humbled at your sentiments but my sincere advice & expectations from you is that you will aim at much higher and nobler desires as your motivations for profound actions…

Thanks for the comment. So very true but in the end it is always the basic motivation that has sparked you desire is the crux, whether it was your need and noble or your greed & avarice.

    Vishvnandji,
Enjoyed reading all the comments by several readers to your poem – Desire.
Good it has motivated them to think and react positively.
Main importance is to be given to transferring thoughts & words into deeds in life. Deeds that are positive rather than negative for the bettemenr of oneself and others.

Thanks so very much for the comment. So very true what you have stated.
I feel the thoughts/words are the motivations within every one which trigger the quality & content of desire for the deeds in life. And therefore the content & quality of basic motivations that has triggered the desire to act and do various deeds is the source which results into good or bad deeds or wise or unwise deeds.
Therefore when a desire emerges one has to ask himself basically whether it is my need or greed and if one is true to himself he does get the answer to decide whether the desire is wise or unwise.
