(Surrouned by acquainted people and relatives on the eve

of  Holy Holi Fest – synchronizing my birthday – I couldn’t

spare time to post this poem while rejoicing my birthday

simultaneously and hence this postscript posted today !)

“Festival Of Frolics’

^^^^^^^^^^^^^

India is a country of fervent and frequent festivities,

Divali, Holi, Janmashtami, Mahashivaratri, Navaratri,

Ganesh Chaturthi, Iid, Moharram, X-mas, et cetera,

Well exhibit conventional and traditional activities !

Holi stands distinctly unique among the fests ut supra !

Noted as Festival Of Colours, it is known also for frolics,

Dappled and variegated faces utter prosaic persiflage,

Breast and hug each other lovingly as if in the comics,

Beckoning the media to publish it with tabby coverage !

The ignition of Holi is earmarked for my Happy Birthday,

So making me more frolicsome and briskly glad and gay !

Holi has just gone by, yet leaving its ephemeral iffy spots

On the bodies & faces of both the “haves” and “have-nots” !

Holi Fest leaves behind, exemplary chart of its memories,

The chronology of this festival carries humorous stories !

Now it is followed by conventional bidding of “Ram-Ram”,

Wishing their welfare-prosperity-tranquility with calm !

Notwithstanding, one thing that irks all of us is the wastage

To the tune of crores of rupees over and above pay and wage !

    Belated though a bit,
Wishing you a very Happy Birthday & a glorious year ahead of gaiety
with best wishes for many many happy returns of the Day, hearty & healthy.
The poem is as delighting as always from your pen & ls fine quality.

    Ashwini,
maybe it’s the passage of years but festivals do seem to have become more about the spending of money.
