AFTERMATH
English Poetry |
Fatefully, the fawn fell,
caught by the hunter’s shot.
Now the victor has a tale to tell.
Love dwells not in such hunting haunts
or in teasing and tethering taunts.
Neither does it live in war-zones
nor does it breed in greed.
It does abundantly flower in subtle deeds.
But the hunter, he loves his hunt
and the fawn too, adores its teasing sprint.
Like the dilemma of the race-horse punter
goes the story of infamy and glory
of the fawn and the hunter.
This call to offload gun metal with responsibility
is indeed a rare and flawed ability .
Isn’t it gentler by far to handle with care
the hound and the hare , as they pound and glare
unaware of the traps and snares ?
In this steeple chase ,
the alchemy of the race leaves a trace
where Love and Art blend and transcend .
While the hunter loves his hunt , the fawn is born to fend ……

Sarala,
it is actually possible to turn lead to gold…but the effort and cost are so high and the result so small…that it is only an academic exercise,

@Gion Gion,
Gion Gion,
That really was prompt. The idea being …
He, who made the hunter also made the fawn.
It is but natural they should to each other be drawn …
Merci beaucoup!!!!!
sarala.
Liked the poem very much.
God made animals to kill another animal only in self defense or when hungry for food, which animals always abide by. Human beings are the only animals who seem to be ceremoniously breaking this law in many ways. We are the animals of the worst kind.
@Vishvnand,
Amazed at Sarala’s extempore poetic rejoinder to my poem!
True, God created the hunter and the fawn. But it is human folly of perverted thoughts that ends in the destruction of the beauty in nature.
Vishvnandji’s & Gion’s comments are remarkable too.
Thanks a lot.
