English Poetry

I hear the rain,pitter-patter on the window pane ,

I try to count the raps one by one, in vain ,

Like the years that sped by on the sly ,

leaving distance between us , by and by .

Once ,caught in a forbidden frenzy ,

in an  attic of  old books, old clothes and old emotions ,

Love  and  lust wrapped a mantle around us .

Rain pattered then furiously

muffling moans of controlled ecstasy.

Yet again , I hear the rain pitter patter  on the window pane,

Myriad memories to strain and several others to sustain .

    Sarala,
    very good.
“I hear the rain,pitter-patter on the window pane ,
I try to count the raps one by one, in vain ,” – for me there is always something about rain on windows – it calls for attention, musically. It prompts both memory and thought beyond what we try to count or comprehend as time,

  2. Hi Kusum ,
Your rain made you sad . I dug this one out to lighten the mood . It appeared in our Embers a while ago.

A befitting poem to make waves
in the heart during rainy season, Sarala.
