Betrayal.
English Poetry, Jul 2011 Contest, Uncategorized |
You speak a language,
In unfamiliar accents,
Misplaced stresses.
The words you write,
Have hidden nuances,
Other rhythms, tones.
Each holiday you mark,
With extravagant cards,
But clichéd messages.
What can you know of the tags?
Pinned to that pictured heart?
Yet you now talk of betrayal?!

Hi Gion Gion,
Love does speak in a strange and nuanced tongue..
I liked the last stanza a lot and “tags pinned to that pictured heart ” a grand imagery with the use of least number of words ..Great !!!!

oh wow!now that’s a write…
betrayal has been lucky enough to be subject of several writings.many wars fought, many words written…
lovely read, loved in particular the way you dabbled with words like nuances, tone, tag…
linguistically luscious!!!!
@purabi,
Purabi,
you hit that right spots.
The line you quote is a nod to the e-age.
If we use the same words do we speak the same language? Do we truly understand the terms in which the clauses of the contract is written?
Fergus
Sarala, Rajdeep, Vishvanand, Medhini,
thanks a lot for the comments and loved seeing the quotes,
Fergus

Pinned to that pictured heart?
Yet you now talk of betrayal?!
That’s amusing and sad at the same time!
