When you breathe in
English Poetry |
Do you smell the deceit and defeat
of plans, arrangements, designs, films and stories
when you breathe in?
In this city of people walking, eyes shut
tight, refusing to peek, afraid of what may,
crashing into each other and things;
Maximum dreams die on such road-accidents;
can you discern the slight stench of burning hopes
when you breathe in?
Civilisation is an increasing occupation
with socialising in extreme isolation;
our times are always on TV screens.
Have you frequently felt it should rain right then;
do you sometimes completely forget to breathe out
when you breathe in?
Saurabh,
it seems a blend of personal experience, general observation and shared concerns – disillusion, alienation and disconnection in the metropolis.
The title is well used as a refrain,
Fergus
“Civilisation is an increasing occupation
with socialising in extreme isolation;
our times are always on TV screens.”
Very beautiful & intense
Liked immensely the breathing out of breathing in.
Kudos.
