Music that Moved ..!
English Poetry, Oct-Nov 2011 Contest |
A loud distinctive call,
that repeats.
With increased pitch
now a series.
Incessant ,periodic
but captivates.
Sustained search
reveals,
the more often heard
performer that enthralls
Black entirely,
blue green tinged body,
crimson red eyes,
against green canopy.
This beauty, heard mostly,
sensing the capture, digitally,
moves briskly
and leaves instantly.
Again, to be heard only.

The video that should accompany this post exceeds the storage limit and could not be loaded at this site.So I have linked it to

Poem appears intense but needed is some hint or preamble for appropriate understanding/interpretation of the poem .
I hear a very small feeble “kuhu” in the 7th second of this video of 25 seconds showing a cuckoo ln the forest environment and lts sound.
@Vishvnand, The video becomes too long along with the initial singing of the bird when it was not in sight.probably i will load the audio separately.
@kanchana
Now it is like a different and unique beautiful poem on cuckoo and its enticing music boon.
@Vishvnand, thankyou
Kanchana,
though rhymed there is a certain stop-start feel to reading this.
It reminds me of a walk through a wooded lake shore trying to record bird song.
The sense of following the sound and the fleeting view of the performer is vivid.
I suppose there is a deeper sense to this description – our frequent quests / searches for answers or comfort only too little interspersed with clarity.
Nice pun in the title.
@Gion Gion,
Kanchana,
Short-cut lines enhance the speed and alacrity to search for the hidden melody of the bird.
But reference to the bird is vague. Only the reference to the video by Vishvnandji makes it clear.
Kusum
@kusumgokarn, Thankyou very much and there is a picture and audio (Thanks to Vijay sir) added.I guess it makes the poem more interesting.
@Gion Gion, Thank you very much.Yes there is a deeper sense to it.
@kanchana,
The picture and the sound of the bird has added to the charm of the poem.
But the mystery is gone.
Kusum
@kusumgokarn, thankyou
