SOUL-QUEST
English Poetry |
Searching the wetlands of the soul,
Am I part or am I whole ?
How do I navigate the ocean
of life ; to hold some precious portion
what magic potion do I seek ?
O traveller ! O Soul ! O mate ! speak .
In each door is a passage
a border to cross, to enter another age.
Are all answers within me ?
My own light I cannot see ?
Allow me to enter the City of Intuition
beyond the ken of will and volition .
Allow me deeper knowledge of self ,
O traveller ! O Soul ! please help
To enter again the creative lands of splendour
and revel yet again in the sea of wonder .
Fulfill this quest and open the door ,
to sail away, give me an oar …….
O soul! O soul! O soul !
churning in life’s whirlpool,
in the sea of nothingness .
Sarala,
Once again a serious soul- searching poem with a spiritual quest into the hidden, unknown depths of one’s self.
‘oceans’ could remain singular like ‘sea”
‘ocean’ rhymes better with ‘portion’

lovely poem

A beautifully meaningful poem which provoked a thought
Why have we to search, at all, who is it that says we aught
What will happen if search we not, and just enjoy our quiet
Is searching a quality & futile activity of our mortal unstable minds.
Is it possible for it to find reality in abstract fields of such kind
Hearty Kudos for the beautiful intense poem of a wonderful kind,
@Vishvnand,

Sarala,
a great poem to read.
A touch of the 19th century about it.
Classic use of imagery – wetlands, sea, door, passage.
Do we seek definite answers? or some general understanding or is the very act of seeking/questioning fundamental to who we are and needs to be exercised in some way?
“Allow me to enter the City of Intuition
beyond the ken of will and volition .” – wonderful image.
Glad to be back at the site,
Fergus
@Gion Gion,
Thanks a ton !
The 19th century imagery just creeps in . No answers are sought but the unflinching quest is articulated.
life’s mystic mystery holds all in thrall .
