The Boat Speaks

I have weathered many a storm
On turbulent high seas
And have floated & glided
Gracefully too,
On some calm waters

The boatman took great care of me
When I was young and small
And when I had
But just taken shape
And then as I aged
I needed treatment
In the form of repairs

In my days
I have helped many
Across the shores
And have also helped
My boatman
In his fishing expeditions

Now I lie here
On the land, on the shore
And on the bank
Uncared and discarded
By my master, the boatman
And survive to tell my tale

My service is no longer needed
My purpose is all served
I am waiting patiently though
That I may reach some suitable hands
Who will either burn me away
Or cast me into another suitable object.

    Apurva,
a grand speech. A profound thought on the prompting of the boat picture.

    “Now I lie here
On the land, on the shore – I like the repetition of land, shore, bank
    And on the bank
    Uncared and discarded”

    “I am waiting patiently though
That I may reach some suitable hands
Who will either burn me away
Or cast me into another suitable object.”
