English Poetry

You who are born in a cage within a cage,

Are you happy?

Can you conceive any thought,

You who are fed on the crumbs of charity?

Can you fly into dream,

You whose feet are clogged to reality?

And even if you could,

How far would you go?

There’s always a cage within a cage.

Balanced on the edge of the void,

You have at least, the comfort of the bars.

You cannot help surrendering

To the nature of your singing.

Surely, you must look  for happiness,

Within.

How beautifully expressed. Struggle and struggle to change the mind set of the cage master. Cage master’s fears and worries are keeping the bird in a cage. Once his fears and wories are explored, may be we will see the beauty of the caged bird.

Very beautifully penned meaningful poem indeed
    Thought provoking
    Liked immensely

    Feel caged externally so what
There is so much freedom & power within to ponder
And through our thoughts break free of the self imposed cage to
    delight in our freedom….

  5. Hi
Using the image of the caged bird to talk of shackles and the need to break shackles and look within are all nicely expressed .
    Simply sweet.
