as waves break on the shore,
take with them a part of me,
that which one cannot offer,
that which is lost to sea.

into sea without sight, makes heart anxious,
ripple aimlessly, wave after wave,
cold stings, warmth fades quickly,
as hands fail to seize, the soft-gentle breeze.

sea weighs heavy, not knows own weight,
pushes further in the abyss, what is free,
yet lost to the sea, rippling aimlessly,
condemned to perish and condemned to be.

as waves break on the shore,
take with them what is sore,
to be lost in the abyss, lost to sea,
wave after wave, ripple after ripple.

    Rohan,
there is a good sense of an indifferent universe in the lines, I think.
I had the feeling of drift wood reading the lines, Not part of land or sea, caught up in an interminable cycle of ebb and flow.
“condemned to perish and condemned to be.”

      fergus,
thanks a lot, i’m glad you feel the mood of my poem. hope you liked. i have found it as a process, easier to articulate my moods by imposing them on nature while remaining a participant in the context so created. this helps me explore emotion in abstraction without reducing it to sentimentality and reveal the alien-ness and mystery of emotions.
i don’t know if it works as i see it, still experimenting with form..

The feel here is akin to desolation, of being hit and rehit and being helplessly thrown about. Nice way to express.
